SD card in the cd slot

OMG....YOU ARE MY SAVIORS! I was about to cry when it was stuck i tried the L shape nothing then i tried the tipping of the mac and shaking then use a pin and i got it!

Just made a username to just say THANK YOU EVERYONE! now time to cancel my apple appointment =]

what about macbook pro? the L shape doesn't work

Which iMac's have SD slots. Mine is a 20" mid 2007 model and it doesn't have an SD slot on it.

Just to add my name to the "stupid list"... thanks a million, the L shape (in my case a sturdy twist tie) worked like a charm!

The paper clip worked like a charm on my first try!, good luck for those who have made the same mistake and are in need of assistance, just don't be too energetic while fishing for your card inside the superdrive, have some patience and you'll do fine.

Thank you for the tips to retrieve the SD card by using the plastic ruler. It really did the trick for us at home.

It took less than a minute.

Just tilt the iMac so that the cd drive diagonally face the ground.

Insert the plastic diagonally into the cd drive and try to pull out the sd card.

I hope Apple think about this design fault. When I got my iMac I slipped an SD card in to wrong slot but realised just before I let go of it.

The drive stopped accepting CD's the other week, no idea why but under warranty so back to the shop. They pulled two SD cards out, thanks to my kids who must have seen me using the slot. Why the two slots have to be on the same side I don't know.

So sellotape it is to cover the slot. The mac shop told me it was a fairly common occurence, you'd think there would be something available that slips in to the slot to stop foreign objects getting in. Which is why I am here. Is there such a thing ?

Yep, I had the same problem today - pretty scary - The business card idea worked for me. Fold a business card in half (length-wise) and create a hooked section at the end. Feel about where you think the card is and you should feel it bouncing. Keep pulling gently at it and it should come out.

The best thing to do is not panic at the beginning! If the card is sticking our slightly get a pair of tweezers and gently pull out.

I got mine out by making the popular "L" shape out of a Coke case. Took me about 20 minutes and I was just about to give up and out it came. All is right with the world again😀

Hi, this happened to me too... really stressed me out, the thought of lugging my heavy imac 27" to the apple store genius bar was not my idea of a great day out.

So....

I sat on the carpet crossed leg, held the mac on its side gently against my legs (cd drive facing downwards).

Using a paper clip and gently picked out the SD card.

It took a few attempts, but once I saw it pop out out I felt like hitting the Champagne!
