Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player model BD-P4600

I just bought a Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player model BD-P4600. I was told by the store salesperson that it would work with my Mac on my home wireless network.

I set everything up as directed and cannot get it to join my network. I even went online and looked for information from others who had successfully connected to their home Mac system, however it did not seem to work for me.

I have a brand new Apple iMac running Mac OS version 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). For my home network, I am using a Comcast cable modem connected to a Linksys Cisco WRT160N wireless N router. I am able to access all 3 home Mac computers, an Xbox 360 and an HP printer through the wireless network, but cannot connect the Blu-Ray player.

The message I receive says "No shared PCs were found."

I am usually pretty good with computer equipment, but I cannot get the Blu-Ray player to recognize the network. I even tried to connect directly to the router via ethernet cable with no luck.

Any thoughts on how I can get this to work?

If you tried a direct connection using ethernet from your router to the DVD player and still can't connect, it's time to think about a possible defective DVD player, or the Samsung site may be down.

I'm assuming that you are using the on-screen menu to activate the internet connection for the DVD player, correct?

Did you restart your network and DVD player after making the ethernet connection?

You might also try turning off the wireless on your laptop and connecting it to the ethernet cable that is going to the DVD player. If you can connect to the internet, you know that you have a good ethernet cable and the port on the router is operational.

If you can't connect using your laptop, it's either a bad cable or connection, or you may have possibly setup Access Control on your router to only allow specified devices to connect on the basis of their MAC address.

I also a similar situation: Samsung Model BD-P3600 and run Snow Leopard.
The Blu-ray disc player has a search feature under networks and it was somehow able to find my MacBook Pro. However, trying any number of things, I have NOT been able to CONNECT to Mac ( that is log in to find a shared folder). Samsung seems to delight in supporting only PCs ( perhaps that's all they know).
