Finding Papyrus Italic & Bold Fonts

Just to add to Tom's comments, in the past if a font lacked an italics or bold face, the operating system applied bold or italics via software. The result was functional if not attractive and is now being shied away from by some developers, particularly on the Mac platform. Several programs now will not apply those effects programmatically, if the font lacks that particular face it isn't applied. That is what's happened with your Papyrus which, to my knowledge, has never had a bold or italics face.

Just today, I saw an ad in my local paper, obviously made with Papyrus bold,
but for the life of me, I can't find it anywhere. I see mention made of it,
but no actual font.

Did you really have bold and italic versions on Windows, or was it perhaps just that your OS/app allowed you to create those styles via algorithmic means?

I don't see any evidence that bold and italic exist on the sites that sell fonts:

So I now wonder if there are any small apps around for the Mac that will replicate those faux fonts in Mac word processing software?

Try OpenOffice.

I'll miss Papyrus.
