Question about iphone calculator

No I don't think there is a fraction button in the built-in calculator. It can process fractions; you just have to enter it arithmetically. For example, 2 3/4 can be entered as 2 + (3 / 4).

The iPhone calculator respects the order of operations, so 1 + 7/8 gives the same results as 7/8 + 1. So I'm not sure what the advantage of a different calculator would be.

I looked on google a bit and it seems that some calculators have a button that changes decimals back to fractions. The built in calculator doesn't do that, but the rest can just be replace by the divide button.

Not sure what a fraction button is I don't think I've ever seen that on a calculator.

1/2 is 1 divided by 2
7/8 is 7 divided by 8 and so on

Maybe s/he means the reciprocal or 1/x button? This is available in landscape mode.

If you need to calculate fractions then purchase a cheap TI or Casio scientific calculator. They all can do fractions and mixed numbers (direct entry of 1 7/8 instead of 7 divided by 8, plus 1).

Builders calculators have the ability to deal with fractions directly. Makes it much easier to deal with standard building materials.
