Help! I can't install Itunes on my laptop!

_Help kind viewers!_

I can't seem to install itunes on my laptop.

While trying to install:
1) It pause half-way and prompt out a window saying "*There is a problem with this Window Installer Package. A problem required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor*".
2)Click on 'OK' and starts rolling back.
3)Install QuickTime only instead.

Why is this so? Can someone help me with this?
Thanks.

I am afraid that does not look right at all. You should have entries for the things in my post and not your own account.

This strange business with permissions seems to have become quite common and we have no idea why it happens.

On general principles, I would run a scan for malware before proceeding any further.

You didn't answer my question about trying to install with all security software diabled, but looking at those permissions, it would not help.

Before you go on, could you give me the owner of the Program files folder. To see this, click on the owner tab on the first image you posted. It should be trusted installer.

Have you made any alterations to the permissions your self in the past or trying to fix this problem?

I would like to to try repairing permissions using the method on this link:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx

I am afraid it is a bit complicated and you will need to read the instructions very carefully.
When you come to editing the text where you have to replace "YOURUSERNAME" with your own account name, you can find your account name by looking on the processes tab in th eTask Manager.
If you have any problems understanding what to do, ask.

The script take a long time to run so be patient with it.

I fear that you may have a problem with installing the SubInACL tool. If so, you can not go on, so post back.

You don't seem to be working with me on this. That is not what I asked you to do.

You already have a serious Windows problem and if you start messing with the permissions on your system folders without knowing what you are doing, you can make things worse.

I think this has gone beyond what can be dealt with in this forum and the best thing I can advise you to do is to take your PC to a professional to get Windows fixed. They may well choose to reinstall Windows as the quickest solution.

This is something you may try to do your self, if you do remember that all data is erased by reinstalling Windows so you need to backup your data first.
