Merge apple id's, me.com and itunes account?
I got about 7 or 8 different accounts with apple i.e.
Apple id
itunes account
mobile me
.mac
Is there anyway of merging these into one? or at least some of them?

Maybe someone at MacRumors can get some kind of inside scoop on the reason, even if Apple remains officially boneheaded about the issue?
Twinsplustwo,
If you did indeed plug your phone into your computer and then checked the box to "sync with the iphone over wifi" and it still doesnt work, I can add this to your troubleshooting: Yesterday, my iphone suddenly did not "see" my mac when I tried to wirelessly sync and I couldn't figure it out...finally, I discovered that it was a glitch of some kind (guess there are still some bugs to work out for apple). To solve it, I plugged my iphone back into the mac and deselected the "sync with iphone over wifi" checkbox, then I pressed the Apply button in the lower right corner of the itunes window, I then re-selected the "sync with the iphone over wifi" box and clicked Apply again...after all this, syncing wirelessly then worked as it should. Hope that helps or gets you started on troubleshooting it.
Why would 'someone at Macrumors' have an inside scoop now? The situation is the same as it has been for years. No inside scoop has emerged to date, so no reason to think it would in the immediate future.
Apple probably has good reason for adopting this approach, it's just that they are not telling the users.
It just seems strange to be so secretive about an issue that is obviously a big deal, big frustration to many users. There have to have been discussions about the issue within Apple. Someone could at least leak something as to why.
I suspect Apple won't do a thing since it did not address this issue prior to launching iCloud. At this rate, the only thing imminent is iCloud being replaced by yet another online product, just like .Mac and MobileMe.
Wasn't it no less than Steve Jobs himself who promised better than the debacle with Mobile Me? This mess seems even worse. Come on, Apple. At least honor Steve by resolving this issue and doing your company proud.
igmackenzie is right, this problem has been around for years and Apple has never given an explanation as to why they are doing it this way. Seems nonsensical to me because it would calm the hostility for many if they just explained why it is so unbelievably complicated to merge IDs. Because of their silence and the fact that people with pre-iCloud me.com IDs can't change the name of their ID and people that open up a new iCloud ID with a non-me.com email address also gets assigned a me.com address along with it leads me to believe that Apple is doing it because they want to somehow get people dependent on the me.com address to retain customers. Who knows!
I don't see why you guys seem to think this is something new, or to do with iCloud. I say again, this has been going on for years with mac.com and MobileMe.

The irony of this is, that I WANT to be dependent on my MM me.com address. I use it for most things, but I want to be able to transfer my purchases from the account I've been using for years on iTunes onto the me.com address, but I can't because the system won't let me!!!!
It's going on for years? yeah, but for years that was somewhat OK because there was only MobileMe or noething. But now there's icloud. So how am I supposed to sync my Music with the cloud if the music isn't on my iCloud account? I can't evne log into two iCloud accounts simultaenously.
@Somian What do you mean it was 'somewhat OK because there was only MobileMe or nothing'? It wasn't OK for all the MM users!
before iCloud, an appleID could've been either MobileMe or just a regular e-mail address. Now, it can me MobileMe or iCloud. But if you want (and have) to use both you can't.
igmackenzie,
Multiple AppleID hassles may have been going on for years, but there's a new dimension to the problem now that the ID monopolizes a DEVICE (for 90 days at a time) and has to be consistent across the different stores. (One AppleID used to go with iTunes and its purchases here, another one with mac.com and its email account there, either of those (or another!) got connected with the App store and its purchases over here, etc.)
We (the petitioners-in-training here) have been making decisions that were not only sane by the lights of our information but especially beneficial to Apple at the time (opening parellel accounts where they invited us to), and now we're left in the lurch.
Even if reporters can't get an inside scoop, I think some old-fashioned BAD PUBLICITY about Apple's stubborn refusal to discuss a solution (or even the nature of the problem) here -- an article that would bring to light how many are affected, at what cost -- stands some chance of making a difference. There are lots of Mac magazines/sites -- MacRumors is just one. I think we should pool our efforts and invite one of them in to cover the scoop.
What say you all?
Sorry, I'm not with you. What is the difference now compared to a few days ago, i.e. pre-public release of iCloud?
