I got about 7 or 8 different accounts with apple i.e.
Apple id
itunes account

Is there anyway of merging these into one? or at least some of them?

You do not "lose" the apps you purchased under your gmail Apple ID. Apple IDs never go away - they just stop getting used. What happens to that gmail email address is irrelevant since it is, in this scenario, only being used as an Apple ID.

Simply change the passcode on the gmail address to match the passcode on your new Apple ID. When you need to supply a passcode to update or download material, you just type in the passcode. You can ignore which Apple ID is showing as, again, it is irrelevant. All iTunes wants to make sure is that you know the passcode to the ID it is asking your for the passcode for.

I don´t know why don´t they answer this simple demand...

I´m and old customer with gmail.com Apple Id and I want to use my icloud.com account for everything... As I were so fortunate to have buy my first iPhone yesterday... But no... Yesterday I bought my 4th iPhone to complete my 4th iPad and my 2nd iMac and my 3rd iPod and my 1st MacBook...

This is insane... Old customers are the most loyal... But it seems we don´t deserve...

I have two (three) Apple Ids: the gmail one that I used to buy apps since iPhone 3G, and the iCloud one (and the me.com one. This two are asociated), that now I use as my main account for mail and... Everything.

I want to get rid of the gmail one... But neither loose my purchases nor to split them betwen two accounts...

Merge them and delete the gmail and me.com ones. All in icloud.com one...

Well, as you indicated, you know that is not possible at the moment.

I can recommend that you go to Manage your Apple ID on the gmail one, and change the password to match the password on your primary @me.com Apple/iCloud ID. That way the older one will, for all intents, be invisible to you since the only time that old one rears it's ugly head is primarily for updates. This is what I have done with my old email (I also use @me.com for everything now), and I don't even notice when it is asking for a password now because it doesn't matter.

Of course, if you want to re-download something with it, you have to sign it on to iTunes, but for the "regular" stuff, the matching password does make it fairly seamless.

Cheers,

Thank you for sharing your experience. It has so far been helpful.

New Mac user.

Devices used: iPod, MacbookPro. My iTunes libraries are 50/50 purchases/cd uploads.

See "*main goal*" at end for summary.

Here's the details of my specific situation:

1) Between '00 and '03 got an iPod (iPod_1) and set up iTunes account (iTunes_1) on a Windows PC (pc_1) using an email account (email_1).

2) Got new iPod (iPod_2) around '09. (details are foggy)

  • It's possible that I plugged iPod_2 into a new PC (pc_2), set up a new iTunes account (iTunes_2) with @domain.com email (email_2), and then tried to physically transfer my iTunes_1 library to merge with iTunes_2 library. I remember this not working very well, but that's a side issue.
  • Again, forgot email_2, but I have a list of possibilities to try.

3) Got a Macbook (pc_3) in 2014.

***Main Goal***

If possible, I would like to know how to access iTunes_1 and iTunes_2 libraries from pc_3 so that I can download purchases and cd uploads onto iPod_2. As long as I can download, I don't care how many accounts I have to keep track of.

If you could please explain how to do the following or refer me to the appropriate posts/websites, that would be great!:

1) How to verify emails used to create past iTunes accounts (iTunes_1 and iTunes_2). Also, if email no longer exists, what then?

2) How to set up iPod_2 so it recognizes or permits downloads from all three iTunes accounts. Or if impossible, other ways to get all content onto iPod_2.

3) How to configure Sync to prevent iTunes_1 (originally associated with iPod_1) from overwriting iPod_2, and vice versa.

I was speaking to an Apple support person today and he said that Apple only responded to numbers and so I decided to set up a page where we could all tell Apple how much we wanted to be able to merge our Apple IDs. I posted it here but Apple took it down. Chris CA suggested posting to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and his post got taken down too because he quoted my post! Have fun!
