Merge apple id's, me.com and itunes account?

Hi

I got about 7 or 8 different accounts with apple i.e.
Apple id
itunes account
mobile me
.mac

Is there anyway of merging these into one? or at least some of them?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2), imac 24"

I have to agree. I believe the problem lies in Apple's use of a single moniker "AppleID" to label several separate identities. It would have been more successful had it labeled them the iTunes ID, the iCloud ID and the Apple Support ID.

Also avoid showing examples on login windows of an ID being an email address if it's not dictated to be such. View the iTunes Store sign in dialog window as an example.

This iCloud situation is very confusing. Went to the local Apple Store and was told that it would be easy to use two different Apple ID's. Tech told me to use my earthlink.net id for iTunes purchases and Apple Store purchases. Tech said use me.com id for iCloud merging mail, calendars, address book. He said once you download Lion to all your devices come back and we can RESET your iPhone (since iPhone picked up the earthlink.net id when I downloaded IOS.

I go back for the RESET and a new tech at the Apple Store said, you should call 1-800-MY-APPLE and have them merge the earthlink.net id into the me.com id first! He said they can do it. He further explained it is best to do this first because too many RESETS will cause even morel havoc. YIKES - how could there be more havoc than this nonsense already is!!!!

So I call 1-800-MY-APPLE who refuses and states it CAN NOT BE DONE.

Steve Jobs passes away and already APPLE is in the IT CAN NOT BE DONE mode. I doubt Mr. Jobs would have accepted this and would have programmers working to fix it.

While I read a post that this situation is not easy for programmers to fix, I will post that Apple has always been all about CUSTOMER SERVICE, so easy or not, FIX IT.

At this point, I am very disappointed with iCloud. To be honest, my Moble Me worked and iCloud is now a total hassle.

Here's how I merged all my apple account email addresses to one... with the magic of Gmail!

Gmail can interpret <username>+[tag](at)gmail.com as an "alias" of your main address <username>@gmail.com

For example, "joeschmo+itunes@gmail.com" will actually deliver to "joeschmo@gmail.com".

So, I changed my old itunes account with all the purchased music etc. from <user>(at)hotmail.com to <user>+itunes(at)gmail.com (you can put any word behind the "+", I'd use something short since you're going to be typing this on your iphone or appletv). The Apple servers recognize this as a different account! So, I still technically have 2 Apple IDs, but they deliver to the same email address. This setting can be managed from appleid.apple.com.

Protip:

Create a rule in Gmail that looks for email to <user>+itunes(at)gmail.com and adds a tag, archives, etc.

Hope this helps.

I am thinking it boils down to $$$$, when you transfer you mobile me account to iCloud you get 25GB of storage and if it is only you apple id, which many use their regular email account you only get the 5GB of storage and have to purchase the other 20GB. So if you merge the accounts you have an account that has 30GB of service for free.

Nov 2, 2011 8:35 AM in response to akirasixty9

The extra 20GB is free until June 30,2012 than it opts you into the $40 pricing, so be sure to cancel if you figure out how to get it.

Here is an article I found on the internet.

Apple has decided to move this one-to-one over to iCloud and is automatically signing up MobileMe users to the 20GB (+ 5GB free) tier plan in iCloud at no charge. We previouslydetailed the iCloud additional storage pricing which puts 25GB of storage at a normal yearly price of $40 USD per year.

Users are automatically signed up for recurring billing with the next payment date for the plan to be June 30th, 2012 -- the same date that the rest of MobileMe shuts down. You may choose to downgrade before that time, and not get charged.

Nope, that is the true. I think after that date they will allow for merging of me.com and your apple ID for the only thing that will be free is the 5GB.

I just checked and I don't have a credit card number on file so it says in my account that I will be automatically downgraded to the 5GB from 25GB on June 30, 2012. (Not that I use that account anyway).

Apple, FIX THIS!

What a mess! Like the others here, I have multiple apple ids and my iphones, imac, and ipad are all screwed up over the various accounts. On top of that, the app store asked today to reconfirm my credentials and displayed the cc info from a year or so ago; several cc changes in the meantime. That on top of having made a purchase on that device and whatever account it's been using for months (years?) an hour or so earlier with no problem.

Found out yesterday that any text message sent to my iphone via imessage also goes to my wife's iphone! couldn't find anything to change on it without completely wiping out its contents.

Apple, this icloud/multiple account situation you've created is simply unacceptable for you. Any other company, I'd be willing to write it off to their standard level of support, but not Apple. This is just embarrassing.

If we can land a man on the moon, you can certainly consolidate accounts across a few databases.

@tweakly, your iMessages shouldn't got to you wife's phone at all, you must have it set up wrong. My wife and I are on the same apple id but she doesn't get my imessage nor do I get her's. My wife user her phone number and her apple id for her iMessages and we share the same apple ID for itunes. That doesn't mess up anything so, if someone hits her on iMessage it goes to her phone or her ipad and mine goto my phone or iPad, but we share the same apps, musice, videos, etc.

So take out the Apple id that you use and give her another one for the iMessage only. It should work

Having the same issue. MobileMe paid account, separate gmail account for the iTunes store, and iCloud getting it's knickers in a twist. So lined everything up behind my @me.com email address, changed my iTunes+App Store over to that Apple ID... and then thinks "what's happened to all my apps, music, etc I bought on my old gmail based Apple ID".

I'd really like to reflect my purchase history in my @me.com Apple ID, and delete my gmail based Apple ID altogether - but there doesn't look to be any satisfactory way to enact this.

Come on Apple, you can do better that this...
