How to export high resolution photos

I've downloaded my photos into iphoto from a Digital SLR and the space one photo takes is about 3MB. When I send the photo from iphoto, even though I choose the highest quality to send, only sends out a 93KB photo. How do I overcome this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

The most direct way:

File -> Export and set the *Kind to Original* will get the actual file you imported.

However, you're not clear here:

When I send the photo from iphoto, even though I choose the highest quality to send, only sends out a 93KB photo.


Do you mean email it? If so, with Apple's Mail app? Have you also set the size in the New Mail Message Window:
