Canon HF S10 and 60 fps? How?

I've recently purchased the Canon HF S10 Legria (the same for Vixia in US) and i'm having trouble filming at 60 fps.
When i press the function button and go the menu settings, there is a setting that says
fps - 50i.

Is this the correct setting? When i import the movie file in Final Cut Pro (or iMovie) and play it back with Quicktime, on the info panel it says 25 fps.

Can anyone point me to the correct settings in getting a 60 fps video in FCP?

Thanks in advance!

I see a lot of videos on youtube describing that their video is shot in 24bit 60 fps etc

Probably shot with cameras that shoot 60fps. Not every camera does that.

So you're telling me that i have to shoot in 720 to get the 60 fps? is that right?

YOu have to get a camera that shoots 720p as that is a 60 frame format. Your camera doesn't do that. It only shoots 1080i 30fps. You can't get 60fps on that camera.

What about if i deinterlace the video?

Then you have deinterlaced footage running at 30fps.
