Printing to Imagewriter II from USB/OsX?

I'm currently using a Classic II and Imagewriter II for printing seafood tags. The Classic II is about to die and I want to transition to an iMac G3 Graphite running OSX. For the classic, a friend re-wrote the Imagewriter Print Driver to include the needed paper size to precisely fit the tags I print. I used Hypercard to create a "program" of sorts to allow selectable items to print on each batch of tags.

Can anyone give me advice on what to use to accomplish these needs.
1-How can I connect and print to an Imagewriter II from a USB based computer running OSX?
2-How can I create a custom paper size to select in Page Setup?
3-How can I create/edit a tag printing application to print the info I need, where I need it on the tag?

Any information at all would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Mel

You can continue to print to it using "Classic" emulation through Mac OS X 10.4.11 with either:

• a USB-to-serial adapter, such as Keyspan OR

• an AppleTalk/LocalTalk option card (installs inside the printer) AND
- an older Mac with LocalTalk port running (OS 9 and LocalTalk Bridge software) OR
- an Appletalk-over-Ethernet adapter such as AsanteTalk or Farralon EtherMac iPrint LT

Once you have this wiring and converters in place, you can print to it directly from any Mac OS X version LESS than 10.6, using the Mac OS X-only driver is available from the Linux Foundation for free. It supports Letter size pinfeed paper well, and custom sizes badly.
