Find cd drive... I have not used Mac before and cannot find the CD drive

I need help with finding the cd drive of my mac (power G4). As I've only used PCs before I really have no clue of how to find the drive on the mac. I am trying to install Mac OS x Tiger but to be able to do this I have to double click on the install icon on the CD which I cannot find...

POWER G4, Mac OS X (10.3.2)

Welcome to the discussions betatryck.

The CD should appear on your desktop. If it doesn't, go to the Finder menu and select Preferences.... In the window that comes up, click General, and tick the CDs, DVDs and iPods box. That should make the CD appear.

Alternatively, if you open any folder, you should see your CD listed in the panel on the left hand side of the folder window. [Edit: I see you have OS X 10.3. This might only be a feature in Tiger (OS X 10.4), I can't remember]

Could you please let me know in what environment I need to be in to? Classic or OS?

I still cannot find it! When I'm in Finder and go to preferences, I already have CDs ticked. I have unticked and reticked this box but still no CD drive. I can play any other CD I have tried, either it starts playing on its own or I restart and press C. I just dont know what else to try!
