Is using Veoh.com safe?

I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so hopefully this was the right place.

I want to watch some videos that I can only find on Veoh.com, but I'm worried about the safety of either downloading them or installing their Web Player because I'm unfamiliar with their services. By safe I mean anything that could cause my information to be compromised and/or accessed without my control or knowledge, or negatively affect the performance of my computer.

Does anyone have any experience with them, good or bad? I thought I'd be safe & check around first.

No reason to install their web player as it plays in a Safari window. Seems to be a benign web site with some real cool movies. I remember seeing some of those black and whites in the movies when I was a kid. I don't know what information you feel will be compromised.

If I want to watch the entire movie, I do have to either download it or install their web player. Otherwise I can only watch a preview of 5 minutes long.

I've searched online & found some scattered reports about spyware & Veoh doing screwy things to other applications, but it wasn't a broad consensus one way or the other. By information I mean access to my computer & any sensitive information that I may have there. People always warn about don't download or install things you don't trust, so that's why I'm asking beforehand. I don't have any way of knowing whether or not to trust this site b/c I don't have any experience with it and cannot find reliable information one way or the other.

I just don't want to have to deal with any adverse affect by doing so just to watch a couple movies that aren't available anywhere else. I'd never heard of Veoh until today, when I did a search to find the international movies I wanted to watch. So I was hoping for input from mac people who have used it with success & feel confident using it, or any other direct experiences with it to help me decide whether or not I want to download/install from there.

I've been reading all of the reviews. They're mixed and many are outdated, so that's why I'm looking for first hand accounts from users here. So far it appears to be okay, but I'd like to hear from anyone who's been using it on a mac without any problems first.

depends on how you define "safe".

My experience is, that the veoh player in fact does contact in unconditional frequencies some other servers than the movie servers where the material you are watching are coming from and which i would not like to contact if i were you or need to contact if i would be veoh. For example your domain server, a lot of different local and international telecomunication companies and some other, not veoh-servers, i don't know. And this behaviour repeates randomly while you are watching.

In my opinion so, it's not "safe". And that depends to the actual version on the date of 02/13/2010.

Maybe someone gives some hints, what kind of informations veoh player is sending there?

me personally I'd not like to let some software send some email accounts, passwords, browsing histories, inventories or especially my documents and other things that belongs to me and especially I'd not like to receive more SPAM than already after watching a few of their movies.

What are your criterias for "safety"? the real things between "nothing to hide" to "paranoid"?
