Welcome to the discussions!

You will have the option of connecting the Time Capsule to one of the LAN ports on the 2Wire using an ethernet cable (recommended), or you could also configure the Time Capsule to "join" the wireless network that the 2Wire is creating.

The downside to the "join" option is that the 2Wire creates a one band, slower "g" wireless network. If you configure the Time Capsule to "join" the 2Wire network, in effect it becomes nothing more than a wireless backup device using the slower "g" wireless speeds.

If you are able to connect the Time Capsule to the 2Wire using an ethernet cable, the Time Capsule is capable of also creating a faster dual band wireless network. Backups will occur over the wireless network or, if you prefer over ethernet.

So, which would you prefer? The Time Capsule to "join" the 2Wire wireless network, or the option to have the Time Capsule create a dual band wireless network that you can use for backups either using wireless or ethernet.

Here is how to configure the Time Capsule:

Connect one ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the 2Wire router to the WAN (circle icon) port on the Time Capsule (TC).

Temporarily, connect another ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC to help configure it. You can leave the ethernet cable connected if you want to back up using ethernet (recommended for the first backup since it will be much quicker than wireless) and disconnect it if you want back up later using wireless.

Open AirPort Utility and click Continue to follow the guided setup procedure. When you get to the page about how to connect, you want to choose the option to "connect using ethernet to extend the network or create a second network."

Post back on your progress.

When AirPort Utility can "see" the Time Capsule again, this time click Manual Setup.

Click the Internet icon in the row of icons

Look for the Connection Sharing setting at the bottom of the page

This should be set to "Off (Bridge Mode)"

Click Update to restart the Time Capsule and you should get a green light in 20-25 seconds.

Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Your settings should look approximately like this:

Wireless Mode...Create a Wireless Network
Wireless Network Name....your choice
Radio Mode...Automatic
Radio Channel Selection...Automatic
Wireless Security...WPA/WPA2 Personal
Wireless Password....your choice

Click the Internet icon
Make sure that Connection Sharing (at the bottom) is set to Off (Bridge Mode).

Click Update to save settings
