Apple mail not getting new mail

Alright so I've setup my imap account on apple mail, I can send without an issue and it will get new mail when I first launch it only. The get mail button does not work and the scheduled time doesn't work either.

I have removed and readded the account and it still doesn't work. Help please!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Same issue. Need launch the app first to get the mail.

I have the same problem too. I switched to Thunderbird 3 which is OK but now the search function is not working properly on that, and Entourage just plain *****! I really miss Outlook......

Same problem for me. Been working this problem for months now with same result - some mail comes in, some does not. Have to keep a cheap little Windows Notebook next to this $2000 iMac just to get email. Talked to the techs (3 T1s, one senior) to no avail. Running 10.6.3 with Mail 4.2 (1078) and that is the latest out there. This is a problem with S Leopard but Apple will not admit it. One of the techs said under his breath " Snow Leopard is Apple's VISTA". BEST OF LUCK ON THIS ONE !

I started getting this issue with only Exchange email right after updating to 10.6.3. I'm not sure if it's related but a few times when I noticed this happening I had received a meeting invitation before not getting any more mails. After restarting Mail a bunch of new mails come in from earlier in the day.
