Wi-fi issues with new 3.1.3 update

Just updated to the new FW 3.1.3 and now my iPhone 3G wont connect to my wi-fi. It see's it but when I select it, after a few seconds I get a error: "Unable to join the network."
I reset my router and still nothing. MBP and PS3 can get on just fine.
Anybody else having issues?

My 3g fon worked fine for 15 months on wifi. 3 weeks ago while on wifi it just broke the connection. Can't reconnect. Using FW 3.13 and now upgraded to FW 4.0 - no difference.
If my fon touches router Aerial with top end of fon I can connect to internet. Otherwise won't even see router.

Going by all the complaints on internet I don't think i'll continue with Apple stuff. Next will be HTC or Android operated fon. Virtually no complaints on internet about those fons.

Pity, fon is great otherwise but I use internet a lot on fon for various sites monitoring news, shares, email etc. Was really great for that. Now its just an expensive ipod for music.

Lesson learned.

If someone has a fix for this then great, please let me know.

Cheers

@berniehoo

If you can connect when placing the iPhone that near to your routers antenna, it is most likely that the wifi-antenna got disconnected.

You find lots of tutorials around the web how to open the phone. Once open, you find a connector labeled with a red sticker with the number "6" on it - this is the connector of the wifi-antenna. It can disconnect slightly when your phone drops on the floor or so.

If you are still on warranty your phone is most likely to be replaced or repaired.

Thanks Sadrian80. Tried that and even renewed the wifi antennae but same condition exists.
I thought too the antennae had become disconnected but it seems ok. New antennae made no difference.

Fon is out of warranty.

Fon has wifi address and bluetooth address so it seems to see the wifi/bluetooth card internally ok.

My connection to internet is very limited to downloading only part of a page then it stops. After that a router reset is necessary too.

Blinking thing!

I have since that also emptied various caches and done all resets. Deleted all RSS feeds. Set up fon to 'new phone' instead of 'restore' but still same problem.

Considered trying some Semtex but can't get hold of any!

Tried reinstalling FW 2.2 but system does not permit this as 'modem' firmware is now 5.13...

This fon has not been jailbroken so no problems from that direction. Fon has never been dropped either.

The apple site suggests various ideas, tried them all. Finally they suggest just use 3G but that runs up the cost. Perhaps there is a built in limit to how much wifi a fon can use due to internet traffic being overladen with use since smartfons have become so popular.

U'd think Mr Jobs would be much more supportive in resolving issues esp. as he is doing very well on this platform. He doesn't communicate very well over these issues. There are still lots of ongoing issues on this matter and upgrading is not really an option as I have lost confidence in Apple hardware.

More suggestions on fixing this would be most welcome.

Thanks
