Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Apple.com very very slow to load since iPad release....

I'm not blaming the iPad!

But ever since the first page at apple.com was the iPad promo the page takes forever to load.

It is the same for me using Firefox.

But at work using IE on a WinXP machine there is no problems.

I've tried deleting all the apple.com cookies.

Any ideas ??

Wow! I'm still baffled by this problem of apple.com (ipad) page opening. Takes like twenty or more seconds to open when going directly to apple.com., BUT when in another page like iPhone site and then go to "apple icon", the iPad page opens instantly. The "Mac" page is also extremely slow, the one with the scrolling window of various Mac models. This all happened after updating to Snow Leopard. The kicker is not everyone has this problem. I do notice that some not all Flash/javascript orientated websites are slower in opening on both of my iMacs. This happens in Firefox and Chrome too.

I have the same issue with Windows 7 - IE8. The problem is effectively linked with Quicktime. If I install Itunes/quicktime, www.apple.com is very slow (IE doesn't respond until each page of apple.com fully loaded).

If I uninstall quicktime, it goes very fast... if I reinstall Quicktime, it goes very slow.

Unfortunately, disabling the "Modules complémentaires" is not enough, quicktime must be uninstalled ... and Itunes doesn't work without Quicktime.

Hi Murray,

I've been having the same issue with the Apple.com site loading after the iPad update. It occurs on my Macbook, iMac and even iPod Touch.

I've read that this might be due to the internet access your having at home. I have a 2Wire router with At&t as my service provider. The only reason I think it might be the access at home is because when I'm at school and on their servers it loads like the "old times" taking only milliseconds to load.

Try loading the page on a different internet connection like at a café or wifi hotspot.
I'll get back to you on my findings whether or not it's my router or Internet provider.

Even though I noticed this problem upon announcement of the iPad (for whatever the **** reason), I continued to have the problem until I dumped StuffIt Delux's MagicMenu while testing for another problem. Suddenly Apple.com opened immediately. Did a full uninstall of all of StuffIt and now use native archiving. All Apple pages load like that (snap!). That wasn't the only problem solved by getting rid of StuffIt - I couldn't load flash video on The Onion site (as far as I know, it affected ONLY the Onion site), but dumping StuffIt fixed that too. Definitely back up to speed here.
