Audacity or GarageBand for Editing Recordings from Vinyl

I have an Audio Technica USB turntable and want to convert my vinyl LPs to MP3s and export the music to iTunes. I know I need to use Audacity to make the recordings but what's the better program for splitting and labeling tracks--Audacity or GarageBand?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

you could use GB if you wanted to do so.

i'd probably pick the audio editor over GB, especially if that what you use to record. if you use GB to record, then i'd use GB to edit. here's a GB tutorial:
