Aperture 3 not available in media browser

I downloaded the trial version of Aperture 3 and bought a downloaded license to upgrade my Aperture 2 installation. However, Aperture no longer appears in the media browser in any application (and not just the images, Aperture isn't even an option, just iPhoto is there). I read online about iLife Support 9.0.4, but it doesn't appear for me in software update, and it isn't listed in the Apple Support Download page or on the iLife support page.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get Aperture back into the media browser?

Thanks

Solved for me too.

I use the latest version of OSX, iLife and Aperture 3.
I installed the Aperture update released today.
I have faces enabled and previews set to always in preferences.

After reading what others said about the update I decided to be carefull, so I:
- rebooted
- launched software update to install the Aperture update
-rebooted
-launched Aperture
-quit Aperture
-rebooted
-tried the media browser and everything worked as it should be, faces works in Aperture also.

I appologize if this has been asked and answered before, but in Aperture 3 there seems to be a new preference concerning sharing preview in the media browser.
Maybe this preference was already in Aperture 2 I can't recall, but I have mine set to share previews when quitting Aperture.
Two other choices are to never share previews, and to always share previews.

In my case I have to quit Aperture for the previews to update in media browser.
Simply generating previews does not guarantee them to show up in media browser, you have to set it in the preferences.

Again, sorry if this has already been mentioned...(this thread is to long for me to read trough, just trying to help).

3.01 did resolve my faces-mediabrowser problem.

Same. Upgraded to Aperture 3.0.1 and do not see Aperture in the Media Browser. Tried importing all my photos into a Aperture new library and also did the "rebuild permissions" with disk utility step.

This stinks, it's my favorite feature of iPhoto and it's difficult to move back to iPhoto now that I moved everything to Aperture. Please Apple, fix this!

I had tried rebuilding the database everything and nothing was working but finally got it.
I found that mine worked after: I upgraded to 3.0.1. Then Selected all my photos and went into the Photos menu holding down the option key to "Generate Preview" on all my photos.
Left it over night to process then in the morning restarted everything.
Now I have Aperture back in the media browser.

Hi,

I've been trying almost everything that could be done in the last few days, but I still do not have my Aperture Library into the media browser. Here is a list of what I've tried so far:

- Used Onyx to clear out some system and users caches
- Use the hints to rebuild the Library from this Apple support page (did the 3 options): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
- I've deleted my previews and regenerated them all
- Sometimes, when I switch library, the new one appears in the browser, but if I switch back to my original one, it disappear
- toggling faces on and off don't help
- changing the media browser options (to Always, never, when quitting Aperture) does not help either.
- rebooted many times, no help there
- I deleted Aperture and reinstalled from the DVD
- even tried creating a new library and merge the 2 together, nah!

I've done all of this on my iMac. But, strangely enough, I have the same issue on my Macbook pro with an older copy of my library!

I'wandering if there is something else I can do to help. Otherwise I'll have to call Apple support to try getting help on this!

Thanks

I followed previous advice to delete and rebuild previews. Took hours, but result was good so I turned Faces back on and all was still good... for 3 days, now no Aperture available in Media Browser, iMovie Photo import, etc. Tonight I synched my iPod Touch. I got an error it could not complete and when this happens it's a problem with the synching photos so I knew immediately to check the iMedia Browser and, Aperture's gone from the drop down for Source. My library within aperture is fine.

Hi all,

I wasn't able to tell right away if the discussion was about the built-in media browser that you get in apps like Pages and KeyNote, or if you were talking about the "iMedia Browser" stand-alone application that is available for downloading from http://www.karelia.com/imedia (and that is also built into a number of third-party applications. Anyhow, I wanted everybody to know that we have support for Aperture 3 in the newly available beta version of the stand-alone iMedia Browser at http://www.karelia.com/beta/iMediaBrowser.dmg .. this will be released in mid-March so it may already be in the release version. Applications which use the iMedia Browser framework will likely be rolling out this new version with Aperture 3 support fairly soon.... you should contact them for details.

Hello All,

for the records...

Some bad news, as 3.01 solved the problem on my Macbook it will not work on my wife's Imac.
I almost tried everything, spent many hours but on the Imac i can not used faces.

It is a miracle, once i moved one single project from my Macbook to Imac without problems. As i changed some pictures at the Imac the complete content of Ap3.01 lib vanished from the Imac's media browser:-)

I guess to use Ap3.01 without faces till Apple did his job to solve the problem. Hopefully they will...

Best regards

I, like many others have done everything t o cure this without luck. I have all the updates, all the patches etc etc etc. Yet STILL I cannot see my library in media browser. I dont give a brass monkeys about any 3rd party app available soon so that is not a solution. I have wedding pictures (my own) that I am desperate to share between imovie and idvd, yet no chance!

Sorry to rant but I am by no means the first and only person here, yet it is still not fixed or Apple representative offering solutions. I have lodged a bug but as yet no reply!

If i create a new library it is seen across the apps. So for the users here, can i get round this by exporting all my images into the new library somehow. The pictures are RAW, I am sure I will have better answers from end users than Apple support!
