GPS Logging for Aperture

Hi guys,

Since I love the GPS Logging function in Aperture I am planning to buy an GPS Logger.
Only thing is that there are a lot of logging devices that arent Mac Compatible.
My eye caught the Sony CS3 logger, but now I need to know if this logger works with Aperture.
And maybe someone has another good idea which logger is best to use.
I can't even find any info about which log files Aperture accepts.
The Sony one is using .log files.
Hope anyone can help

greetz and thanks danny

Just pull down the small menu by the magnifying glass below the Satellite/Road/Terrain boxes and go to show all. All the images will reappear. What happens is when the images are reassigned they will be sorted, that is why the others disappear! It got me too when it first happened and then I worked it out by clicking around.

Be careful with the Sony CS3... i've seen a lot of terrible reviews about it...

I've ordered the Qstarz BT-Q1000X which has the latest MTKII GPS chip, 42 hours of autonomy with a rechargeable battery... the only problem for me is the memory (lacks of a memory card, it just has its internal memory) which can only record about 40 hours... then you have to download the logs to free the memory (it can be done from a smartphone so that's what i will do)... a lot of people use also the iblue 747 which seems to be pretty good, but has the first generation MTK chip which means less autonomy.

In order to save memory, you can also suppress some datas (altitude and speed for example) and also decrease the frequency of logs (instead of 1 point per second, 1 point every 2 or 5 seconds) since you'll probably be walking when taking pictures in 5 secs you can't walk that much of a distance anyway so the location will still be pretty accurate... if you use 1 point every 5 seconds the device can hold 200 hours of logs.

I'll tell you what i think when i receive and test it.

Cheers.

I use an AMOD AGL3080 logger. It has a mini-USB port and the log files are saved as TXT files with a .log extension, I believe. I then use GPSBabel to convert that log file to whatever format is needed. I con't have a recent track to use with Aperture, but if it will accept a GPX file, this approach will work fine. Costs ~$50 and the download and conversion takes about 15s once you get the hang of it.
