5D Mk II Tethering...?

Has anybody tried to shoot tethered with A3 and Canon 5D MkII?

In A2 it recognized the camera, but there was no way to release the shutter (it simply did not work),

TIA

Exactly the same problem here. I shoot 90% of my commercial work tethered, no problem in version 2 but v 3.0.2 does not want to know. This is a huge blow to my workflow as I have to go through the Canon Utility-hot folder-import route. It is also embarrassing as my regular client have become used to sitting down in front of a display and directing the shoot in real time. No I have to make up excuses at to why it is not working as well/smoothly as they have come to expect. I use Canon 1Ds MKII and 1D MK IIN cameras both now not recognised by Aperture v. 3.0.2.

William Loyd is correct - Your can achieve the same thing using the cannon utility and simple automator script. You can get the script at

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/aperturehotfolder.html

I understand it might not be integral to Aperture and sure some might say that Lightroom can do why not Aperture, but it doesn't right now. So.....

I have used the automator script and the cannon utility on an almost daily basis and I have essentially tethered my camera. It works well and is simple to setup. I don't agree with other posters that it is unreliable or cumbersome - how so?

Ultimately if you want automatic import of your images into Aperture this is currently the way available.

I think the problem is that Aperture is supposed to a a one-stop workflow tool, and here we're having to rely on 3 different applications (DPP, Automator, Finder) to do a simple tether. The point is Apple is very slow at adopting "new" (in this case 2 years old) cameras into the program.

It's nice to adapt and find workarounds, but ultimately Aperture's purpose is to bring things together under one Application.
