Keychain Access: "Access to this item is restricted"

Apparently, your admin and keychain passwords don't match.

Your Keychain preferences could be corrupted...

Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.keychainaccess.plist to the Trash and restart your Mac.

If that didn't help... From the Keychain Access Menu Bar click Keychain/Keychain First Aid. You will be prompted for your admin password. Then colick Verify. If necessary, click Repair.

Quit Keychain Access and restart your Mac.

Delete the keychain entry that's causing the issue, revisit the site (assuming it's one associated with a website), and re-enter it.

If it's all of them, then delete the login.keychain, log out and back in, that should create a default login.keychain. Now, revisit the sites, reenter your passwords, and Keychain Access should add those to your login.keychain.

Then, it's most likely something amiss with iPassword, which I've never used.

Create a new admin user account, log into it, and try saving web passwords with Safari and check the login.keychain with Keychain Access.

Try restarting your Mac with the OS DVD in it, and hold down 'C' as it restarts.

You can then go to Menu>Utilities>Change Admin Password.

Or something like that - I'm going form memory here.

This would solve your Admin password issue - as this seems to be the problem.

Nope. You need the discs that shipped with the machine and the upgrade ones.
