Download address book

Heya,

I've got a little problem. I just bought a new Mac Book and deleted by mistake my address book - (trash and then emptyed my trash) - I know, not clever!! Now I wondered is there any possibility to download address book or do you have any other idea how I get it back? The Address book is still displayed on the dock but with a question mark on it....

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

HI,

The Mac OS X applications that came pre-installed on your Mac are not available for download but
you can reinstall the Address Book application from your Mac install disc.

Insert your Mac install disc. Open the Optional Installs folder, then open Optional Installs.mpkg

An Installer will start; click Continue. When you get to the Installation Type select the black disclosure triangle next to Applications then select Address Book. Click Continue.

After you are finished with the installation, repair disk permissions.

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Please take a moment and click My Settings on the right side of this page and tell us exactly which Mac OS X you are running. If you aren't certain, click the Apple Menu top left in your screen, then click: About This Mac. The Mac OS X version number will be displalyed there. The more information we have to go by, the easier to assist you.

Since this is a new MacBook it should be 10.6. or 10.6.1 or 10.6.2

Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply Carolyn! I tried what you suggested. Unfortunately the CD to install the Applications, says "Install Bundled Software" and when I want to customize the selection of applications I want to install, I only have the choice between, CPU Help files, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb and iDVD, so no adress book on the CD... do you know what best to do next?

Thank you very much for your help! 😉

Jess... oh and yes I have version 10.6.1

Jess,

You're welcome 🙂

The Snow Leopard upgrade discs have that option so the Mac install disc that comes with the new Macs must have a different install configuration. I wasn't aware of that... my bad.

*Back up all important data you have added to your iMac* then insert your install disk. When the window opens click: Install Mac OS X.app and follow the instructions to reinstall the Mac OS X.

That will install your Address Book for you.

One more thing. You have a MacBook but you posted in the iMac forum. I've asked a moderator to move this thread to the appropriate forum.

The new link will be provided in your e-mail update.
