Can connect to VPN but not Remote Desktop

I hope I've go this post on the right section.

My current OS is Snow Leopard and I've been trying to connect to my work computer. I'm able to successfully connect to our intranet via VPN using a Nortel client, bust I just can't seem to connect to my work compy.
I have downloaded Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Mac v 2.0.1 and it keeps telling me that it can't find my work computer. I also tried CoRD v0.5.2 and this can't find my work compy either.

I have a PC running Win XP, and this one can connect to my work compy no problem - so I know it's not my home network/router that's causing the problem. It's either something to do with my settings or the Remote Desktop clients that I have.

Can someone please help me?

=(

Are you trying to connect to your computer by its name or IP address? If you’re using its name, use the IP address. If you are using the computer you find the problem is your DNS is not able to resolve the name to IP.

Once you have connected to the company VPN, when you fire up remote desktop software use the IP address of the computer you want to connect to.
