Whats the difference between a Apple and IBM

Is Apple IBM, and vice versa? Is IBM still around? I was always under the impression that IBM became Apple or the Apple bought IBM. Also does Apple make a computer called Macintosh anymore? Or was it shorted to Mac?

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.2), Ipod 80gb Video, Ipod 160gb Classic, Iphone 1st gen

Apple has always made Macintosh (shortened to Mac) computers & has never been associated with IBM. In addition to computers and software, Apple has designed & sells other electronic items like the iPod, iPhone & soon to be released, the iPad. IBM's computer business was sold to a China company.

Well, Apple and IBM, along with Motorola, were associated in a partnership that developed the single-chip PowerPC processor used in Macintosh computers for a number of years. But you are correct that Apple and IBM are and have always been completely separate companies.

IBM's computer business was sold to a China company.

To be specific, IBM's laptop business was sold to a Chinese company, Lenovo. IBM retains their minicomputer/mainframe business.

Regards.
