iChat, typical issue regarding users not showing up

I have two AIM accounts; I have one for Home/Friends etc and one for Work Friends & Co-workers to contact me at.
I put both AIM Names on either buddy list, recently they just stopped showing up on each others list on the same Mac running 10.5.8 and iChat 4

I did all the remove com.apple.ichat.aim or whatever plist files but it reverts to doing that ever so randomly.

it even happened under a different mac running snow leopard and that version of iChat. though that one seems to be abit more stable.

is there a fix or anything for it? atleast something solid..this is the first it has happened to me, just all of a sudden.....

thanks.

Hi,

You were bang on my friend block me by mistake.

Then I said

"Good job it was not your wife"

I was eluding to the fact that your wife (if you have one) could also be a Buddy and you would not want to find out she was blocking you.

🙂

No Problem.

The Terms of Use do hint at posting your own issues separately but also allow fo the adding a "Me Too" type post.

The issue tends to be picking a thread title that looks the same issue only to find out it is different.

Some areas of the Discussions can have a bit of a different response to second or third posters with similar issues.
The Email alerts you get allow you to focus on the last reply and people can seemingly get ignored if the issue is not exactly the same.

I would prefer to be told myself and use the same methods here and in the other iChat Forums.

The best option is to either say you think you have the same issue or start a new Thread if you are not sure it is the same.

Ralph,

No offense, I have read your posts on all people that are having iChat issues. You always say the same thing instead of listening to people. You really are no help what so ever. I called apple regarding this issue and they were all having the same issue. Maybe you should just step back some.

For all others, I had 5 different computers with the same issue. 3 have come back so far, waiting on the other 2. My bet is that there was an update, albeit at the a horrible time, and now its done. The only reason I say this is 2 mobileme accounts were not syncing right before and now they are. Hope this helps. If not call apple and complain, I did and it stumped them with what was going on and they contacted that department. Enjoy.

Hi,

Are you talking about the issues with AIM at the AIM 7.2 update (the month this Thread started) or the Issue that raised it head yesterday ?

The information that Apple staff who are more likely to be using @Mac.com or MobileMe names were having issues yesterday is interesting as it would point to a MobileMe/@mac.com database issue and the link AIM can have with that.

If AIM (the servers) cannot resolve Screen Names from Apple, Buddy lists will not show Buddies.

If you have Direct access to reporting a problem with MobileMe then that is always a worthwhile thing to do. It either solves the problem as you have found or eliminates it being an AIM to MobileMe issue and places directly back on AIM.

I would point out that out of 51,570+ posts ( See here) it is not often that I miscommunicate with someone.

I thank you for your comments though.
