Does anyone know if it's possible to switch the primary and secondary view between my main and second monitors? I have a really nice 24" widescreen monitor as my main display and an older 19" monitor as my secondary display. At the moment I get to view all the browser etc. on the main monitor and the full screen preview is on the secondary display but it would be nice to swap this over, is that possible?
Aperture 3 just in case that makes a difference!

Aperture 3
the use of multi display is really complex ... in that regard lightroom is way ahead .
the solution i use is to swap display in full screen mode and to move by hand the HUD tool
Until Apple releases a bug fix, Aperture 3 is unusable for me, so I've switched back to Aperture 2 for now.
••• But I think I have the solution for you, if you're using *Aperture 2*:
• Go to full screen view (F).
• You'll have a menu on top of screen, when you move your mouse there.
• The 17th icon from the left looks like a little monitor (the hover help text display is "Viewer Mode").
• Click on this and a menu will drop down, with the following options:
*MAIN VIEWER*
Show Multiple
⌥U Show One
⌥R Three Up
⌥H Compare
⌥O Stack
⌥T *SECONDARY VIEWER*
Mirror
⌥M Alternate
⌥A Span
⌥S Blank
⌥B Desktop
⌥X
I think what you're looking for is the *Show Multiple* and
Span configuration.
Try this or any other combination that will fit your needs.
••• In *Aperture 3*, according to the manual, the menu has a new option:
Swap Displays
⌥S
iMac (read your 24" screen) as main in full screen mode and have the Browser on a secondary screen. To do this I have menus on Main screen, Main Screen set to Show One and Secondary Screen set to Desktop. I then resized the window in split screen mode (Browser and Viewer, no Inspector) and dragged it onto the Secondary screen, select a thumbnail and go into full screen using the HUD. Clicking the lock at top right of the HUD locks it to the right so it doesn't overlap the image. This does not work in Browser Only mode, as the full screen acts as a browser as well.
LOL, how is lightroom "way" ahead? It's dual monitor implementation is terrible and doesn't even come close to the feature set. In fullscreen mode you can "lock" the HUD into position.
Well, That kind of works but it is a pain to set up and the browser does not really work as it normally does. As well you cannot get to the real menu bar.
Better than nothing, but I am amazed that this use case has been missed...
