How to configure Airport Extreme for full Xbox live functionality ?

Hello,

My first post to the forum - I've been going through the archives, but couldn't find a solution for the problem I'm having with my Xbox 360 connected to the Airport Extreme I bought recently.

Situation is as follows:
The Extreme works flawless with my macbooks, imac and iphones. The Xbox 360 connects through the wireless Xbox 360 adapter fine; I can sign in to my Xbox live account and play games on-line.

However, when I go the Marketplace channels and try to load its content, it look like a time out occurs and I get a '80072ee2' error. Some channels (movies sometimes) do load the first page with titles, but when I select one, I end up with the 80072ee2 again. It feels like it's working 'sometimes' but I can't find the logic in when or why...

I spoke to Xbox support and was told to open the following ports in my router:

TCP 80
UDP 88
TCP 3074
UDP 3074
TCP 53
UDP 53

I got to the port settings in the airport config, but I'm not sure how to proceed as to what to select, public UDP/TCP, private UDP/TCP, what private IP address to enter etc. I called Apple care for help and they suggested this support forum...

I have a Ubee cable modem (part of the installation kit of my -Dutch- provider Ziggo) to which the Airport is connected. All other devices I use in my wifi network work fine with the current setup.

Any suggestions...?

Macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2), Ubee cable modem

Got this from engineering:

I have received a response from Engineering about this issue and they would like some additional information from you...

A few questions:

What is connected to this Extreme base station? I assume this is an Xbox 360, how is it connected? Has this been tested using both wireless and wired (wired is sufficient)?

Does this issue occur when this Extreme is configured in bridge mode?

Has your customer tried uploading the base config file from this earlier base station to the newer one? If not, give that a try to see the results.

I assume this customer has other devices connected to this Extreme - what are they (if any) and do they encounter any issues connecting to any sites?

Sent this back to engineering:

Okay, yes it is an xbox 360. I actually have two of them on the same
network and both are hardwired and neither will connect. I have also
had the chance to test with the old 10/100 airport extreme and it does
let me connect. So two older models work, this one doesn't.

I haven't tried it in bridge mode.

I did try uploading the config from the working older model after
receiving your email with no success. The same problem still
occurred.

I do have other devices connected. I have 2 iMacs, 1 MacMini Server,
3 iPhones, 2 Apple TV's, 1 Playstation 3, 1 Nintendo Wii and one
MacBook Pro. The only issues I have noticed with any sites or devices
is YouTube. Playing YouTube videos is pretty much pointless on the
iPhones and Apple TV's. They take several minutes to start and pause
constantly. This doesn't happen over the 3G on the iPhones. All
devices are hardwired with the exception of the iPhones.

I would love to get this resolved ASAP since I have two routers on
loan from other people for testing and need to get them returned and
decide what to do with the Airport Extreme I purchased from you guys.

Not sure if this helps but here is my setup too. My modem is from Cox Cable and is a Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard Cable Modem. I have 2 Xbox on same network hardwired. I have 1 pc laptop and 1 MBP as well as 2 iphones that connect wireless. Xbox gaming works like a charm as well as the laptops and iphones. Netflix on both xbox 360 is the issue. I have also noticed the same issues with watching youtube on my iphone (funny you mentioned that). I have no idea how to bridge the AEBS but if it works out for you then let me know and I will figure it out. I have 2 weeks before I am unable to take the AEBS back to best buy so I will stick it out a while longer. I have been disconnecting the router and simply hardwiring directly into the modem in order to watch Netflix.

If you want to forward this to your contact that might be good. Thanks again.

Just to throw another 2 cents in . My ISP (cox) here just upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 I though I would upgrade my modem to see if it helped at all. I went from a Scientific Atlanta 2100 (DOCSIS 2.0) to a new Motorola SB6120 (DOCSIS 3.0) and the problem still occurs.Tho faster internet...same problem.

I have connected in my network 3 Directv boxes (1 hardwired, 2 wireless) 3 xbox 360's (1 hardwired, 2 wireless), 2PC's (1 hardwired, 1 wireless), 3 PS3's (1 hardwired, 2 wireless), 1 Wii (wireless), Slingbox HD (hardwired), 2 Iphones 3G's, D link switch, networked printer (hardwired) and 2 D-Link (DAP-1522) access points.

All works great except for the Netflix on the 360. PS3 Netflix works great.

Now keep in mind some of the items listed above are connected by a switch or wireless access points..

Okay, so here is the bad news you all have been waiting for. Engineering has acknowledged there is a problem. It isn't with all of them, but some of them. They have essentially put it on their list and if the fix shows up in a future update then great, but if not then you are pretty much out of luck. (Not how they worded, but that is the end result of the ticket I opened). They are going to RMA mine, but I don't have high hopes of the one coming back fixing the issue since I have already tried a total of 3 of the units now with the exact same result. I was looking for a resolution, but basically, I have a 180 dollar coaster at this point.
