Hi, I'm having trouble importing .MOD and .MOI into iTunes, and even playing them in quicktime or vlc!
iMovie recognizes my camera and finds the files, but they have no thumbnails when I import them, and after the import, I can't find the files anywhere!
I have a JVC Everio HD-GZ7U and I am pluggin it into my MacBook Pro 2.6 Intel via firewire. I am trying to record directly into iMovie 8 and save onto a 2Tb HD. The Computer recognizes the camera when plugged in, but does not show any picture. I have been using an older Sony DV (tape) camera and everything works perfectly, except for I can't get the sound from an external sound board into iMovie at the same time as the video. I understand how to sync the audio up, but that would be a 5 step process, instead of one. The JVC will accept external audio but I can't get iMovie 8 to show any picture. I have tried the suggestions here with formatting both on the camera side and the iMovie side, but no joy. Is there a QT component that I am missing to allow the picture to be seen in iMovie through the camera?
Hi there.
I am trying this EXACT set of steps and nothing is working for me.
I have honeymoon, wedding, and many other priceless videos all in .MOD files.
Has anything changed with your procedure steps? iMovie 9 will just not recognize the files whatsoever.
I have the same problem with importing .MOD and .MOI files to my computer from a JVC EverioS GZ-MS100... I have tried and tried and tried and looked up all types of advices but still no luck...
I have tried to follow your advice Chris@JVC and opening iMovie before usb'ing but my iMovie crashes when I open the camera... I am desperate to find a solution on this as soon as possible so that I can create the videos I want to create... Please help me!!
Hi there,
I'm having exactly the same problems (with iMovie08) - in the past it has worked, but this time iMovie is not finding my Everio (GZMG435BAG) and I cannot get the movies out. Any ideas gratefully received
I have JVC GZ-HD7E and the only thing that worked for me with the .TOD-files is to move back to the old version of iMovie HD6. Everything else just diminishes your quality, if you use QT or other similar apps for name changes etc.
I have a similar issue. I am able to get the file imported into iMovie pretty easily (you need to have iMovie open first) but the quality of the clips when I view them in iMovie really looks awful. If I look at the file using VLC media player the quality looks fine, but if I import it through iMovie and view the clip in iMovie, it looks awaful.
Any thoughts?
Hi
I struggled with this for hours then the teenager of the house told me to turn imovie off. Plug camera into a usb port. Turn camera all the way to record then shift it back to play. Then turn on imovie and just wait for awhile like 3 minutes or so. Then halfway down the imovie screen there will appear a blue box with a video camera on it. Click it..you will get a blue circle and then the camera will begin to flash. Just wait and after a bit, your thumbnails will appear for import. Key is patience. I was assuming the JVC would appear as an option immediately. You just need to give it a few minutes and it will work just fine! Good luck.
