Video Downlad

I have been trying to downlaod some video files, both wmv and standard mpg. and after the download is finished they end up as excel files. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and if I can correct the problem.

Hi Mark,

what is identifying them as Excel files?
Do they just have the wrong icon or are they opening up with Excel if you double-click them?

Have you tried to open them with quick time?
Try this: right-click on the downloaded file and select "Get Info". Now select QuickTime as application to open this file. Now double-click the file and it should open in QuickTime....

Yes it has the excel icon. When I do as you suggested I am told the format is invalid. I have tried opening with VLC which I can open almost anything with and still no go...
