Snapback completely disappeared

The snapback feature in my Safari 4.0.4 has suddenly disappeared. I did not install any plugins or made any changes to the settings. It has just gone. I cannot mark a website to snapback nor the button appears in the search field. I reset Safari, wiped the cache and removed all .plists belonging to the program but without success. How do I get the feature back?

(Hello to all from a newbie poster)

Yes Snapback is a very useful feature in Safari. It's been there for years using the apple optionS shortcut, .... and yes mine disappeared as well!!!!... which is very annoying!!!

Have tried the solution suggested by Mathias above (which suspect loads a google cookie?) and it has returned. Well, it's returned after a fashion, in that the keyboard shortcut is back and the search SnapBack is now available in History>Search Results Snapback,..... but no sign of the SnapBack icon in the Safari Tool Bar or any reference to the SnapBack icon in View>Customise Toolbar...

...which leads me to say that the problem is only partly sorted by this workaround.

Still bad in Safari 5, although if I change search to Yahoo or Bing it works fine (I'm in the UK).

Interestingly, if you switch to Bind, search, click away, snapback, then switch to Google, search, the snap back button is there, but takes you back to the Bing search results.

It might be a Google change that causes the problem, but it's Apple's problem to keep up.

"To do this enter in the URL bar google.com, you will be redirected to your country then look for "Go to Google.com" below the search bar, click on it, and bingo, snapback is back."

Doing just this with Safari 5 worked for me. No Safari reset or computer restart necessary. Thanks a lot Rafael!

My SnapBack vanished about a year ago, and I've been missing it ever since. So it seems that Google broke it with the country-specific sites. It only works with the main Google.com site. Also, for anyone else with Safari 5, SnapBack seems to work fine (I only tried it a bit) with Bing and Yahoo!. So another solution is to use those search engines instead of Google. 😀
