I tried sudo lshw on my new Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard to get a hardware list form the command prompt. Apparently the command does not work on the Mac. As I used it before on Ubuntu I thought it would be available on the Mac as well. What equivalent command can list hardware for my Mac from the terminal?
Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo,
Mac OS X (10.6.2),
MacPorts, VMWare Fusion
For what you wanted to do system_profiler should be enough? From the command line (either in single user boot - command+s at startup or normally) issue: "system_profiler SPHardwareDataType" If you want to view RAM information: "system_profiler SPMemoryDataType" You don't need to type the quotes.
To view the list of options the utility has: "system_profiler -listDataTypes" Pick one form the list that suits.
