iPhone IMEI/ICCID unknown

Hi,

My iPhone 3GS 32GB is showing IMEI/ICCID unknown. I tried to restore it via iTunes, but it failed. I am using the factory unlocked handset in India where 3GS has not been launched.

I was hoping if anyone can tell me if I can send the iphone directly to an Apple Store in the US for repair/replacement or if this can be arranged through one of Apple's resellers in India or the authorized point of contact. Also, would the bill be necessary to get a replacement (I cannot locate it).

Is there any chance your phone got wet? I had the same symptoms after my 3GS got wet at a soccer game. You can check by shining a small flashlight into the headphone jack and into the jack on the bottom of your phone (where you connect to the computer). (Google "iphone water damage indicator" for images of the indicators.) If you see either a small yellow or a small red indicator, your phone is likely dead, or at least mine was. You won't be able to restore and will probably have to shell out $200 or so to replace your phone. Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I took a peek from the hole of the headphone jack, the indicator at the bottom is still silverish white, no trace of this red/pink/yellow color. And even before this happened, I don't think there's a chance that it got wet.
