where is the diagonal up down glissando symbol ?

Frustrated I know what it looks like, but in Logic I can't seem to find a diagonal squiggly line symbol for glissando. Is the line with ugly arrow head the only way ? Also it is annoying that the help menu only sometimes tells you the name of the symbols in the part boxes as you select drag them over to score, other times it simply shows "meta data" as the name of the symbol. I don't claim to know the names of every notation symbol Logic offers, so I try to rely and learn from the help to identify them. Was this fixed in Logic 9 ?

A straight diagonal line is normally used to indicate a glissando or portamento. The vertical 'squiggly' line is normally used to indicate a rasgueado or an arpeggio. The arrowhead either indicates the direction of strum or tells you which direction to spread the chord - top to bottom or bottom to top.
You will find the straight line in the box marked with a crescendo hairpin.
