trackpad handwriting problem

I have a problem with the trackpad when I am writing chinese with it.
Everything was working fine except when I clicked ctrl shiftspacebar to turn it off, thinking it will close, the thing didn't...
Has anyone experienced his problem as well? or How can I avoid this from happening again?

Help!!

(Additional info: my power cable was unplugged at that time...)

Same thing happens to me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!!!

I have the same issue, too. It happens quite often, but I don't know how to reliably reproduce it. Also, I am not using Spaces.

I have the same problem too.
Once the trackpad is enabled on the screen, I cannot turn it off anymore.
Reboot was the only way out.

What does Ctrl-F8 do?
It only starts itune for me...

I uninstalled Google Chorme, then the trackpad handwriting seems to be working perfectly, I think it crashes with Google browser.
