What's different about a Mac vs. a PC?

If I have the money, my next computer will be a Mac. However, I do not understand why Mac machines are twice the price of a PC with same hardware specs. Now that basically Mac uses the same hardware as PC does, besides the OS, what justifies twice as expensive as a PC?

HP, nothing

All that being said, the Mac Pro is overkill for most people. It's not for everyone.

I agree 100%. Many people lean toward a MacPro because it looks like what most people expect a computer to look like, but unless you are at least a pro-sumer by having very large photo libraries (ie: +30,000), regularly edit digital video, author dvd's, or deal with creation of music, the MacPro is more computer than most people will ever use. A nice 21" iMac will fit about 85% of consumer needs.

I'd like to see evidence that you can buy a PC with the same specs for half the price--I don't think that's true. Macs are often a bit more expensive, but definitely not twice as much. By same specs I mean FW400 is not the same as FW800, etc.

It comes down to personal preference: buy what you like and what you can afford. Many of us are willing to pay a bit more for hardware and software that we find to be superior.
