Screen sharing with Tiger
Sitting at the iMac I can see the desktops, users, etc. on the two G4 Tiger machines, I can navigate their contents and open documents, etc. etc and I can print.
Whenever I boot the iMac, which runs 24/7 so it isn't often, my Startup items automatically mount the G4 users.
And yet, when I try to share screens with either of them, it always returns the message:
+Authentication failed to "name" Please verify you have entered the correct name and password+
And no matter what combination of users names, passwords, swear words etc. I get the same message.
Now, in my ignorance, I would have thought that as I can log on and navigate those users I must have my name and passwords correct and that there are no firewall issues either.
So, am I:
1) misunderstanding everything;
2) attempting the impossible;
3) overlooking the obvious;
4) congenitally technophobic;
5) stupid;
6) in need of psychiatric help; or
7) a combination of any or all of the above?
What, mon tres bon amis, am I doing wrong?
And whilst I have (I hope) you attention, can anyone help with my so far unanswered iCal problem here:
