Hi,
There are many different ways to remotely access your MacBook; however, if you are not on your LAN, then you will have to pay the price. It can be awful how costly these things are, but they are what they are.
One of these such programs I know of is GoToMyPC. Here's their website:

I have not used them, but I have heard from many that they are a good company.
I have used the following one myself in free mode (not a free trial offer, but an actual free mode). It is called LogMeIn:

The free version, which I used, is called, I'm pretty sure, LogMeIn Free, or something like that. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone. Perhaps the paid for version is better, but this thing was awful. I pretty much uninstalled it as soon as I installed it, so I certainly do NOT recommend using the free version of LogMeIn, once again.
So, these are just a few of many remote desktop (they work with laptops too, don't worry) programs. You can find more by just Google-ing "remote desktop" or something like that.
You may also have heard of Apple Remote Desktop or the Screen Sharing software that actually comes already on your Mac. As far as I know, the Apple Remote Desktop works well, but only on your LAN, not around the world. I know for sure that the Screen Sharing software already on Macs works well (I have used it quite often), but again it too only works on a LAN. I am pretty confident on both of these things, but if anyone else has something different to offer on that, please, be my guest.
Good luck with choosing the right remote desktop program and with your blog!
