photobooth effects problems

Sorry if this is in the wrong place I didn't know where to put it. I am a new mac user and in photo booth when I try to use the effects for video they do not show up right. I select the effect and it ask me to step out of the frame. I do that and it looks perfect, but when I re-enter the effects get all messed up. Is there something I need to do or a certain way to re-enter into the frame?

thanks for all the help.

Macbook Pro, iPhone OS 3.0.1, I use Macs, PC's, and Linux.

You're welcome.

I don't see how in the apple videos and whatnot it works perfectly... i can't hardly get it to work.

More specifics will help us help you.

Do all the troubleshooting suggested here (except taking it to an Apple Service Provider):

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

After you have done ALL the user troubleshooting, please tell us:

(1) which version of Mac OS X you use

(2) which apps work correctly with iSight

(3) which apps do NOT work correctly and what each problem is; i.e., not at all, poor image, etc.

(4) whether the problems are EXACTLY the same in EVERY user account you tested.

(5) whether you corrected lighting, background, camera stability, and contrast per

(6) whether you saw improvement when you made the corrections noted in (5)

We will try to offer specific suggestions based on the details in your answers.

It works perfectly if your background is white.

My computer chair is "highback" so I just throw a white towel or sheet over the back of chair. A white wall is just as effective which is what I use when using my MBP in another room. Effect pictures come out perfect each time.

You should also visit YouTube "How To" videos to discover other PB Effect tips. Really amazing Effect stuff.

This works only if you don't wear white.

A plain 'flat" colour that is different to what you are wearing is ideal.

The chair, if visible in the "background", is black and you wear black there will be issues as Baby Boomer has said, once you move back in to the frame.

The other big issue is lighting.
The more light you can through on yourself, preferably from the front the better.

As well as the issues discussed here there is a problem with adding MoreiChatEffects when running Snow Leopard.

MoreiChat Effects came out some while ago and the Quartz files that create the effects have not been updated for Snow Leopard.

Hi,

The Quartz files are stored in the Compositions folder.
Photo Booth and iChat can use this folder (actually "these folders" as there is one in your Home Folder/Library/Compositions that you could add effects to just for you to use).

I am not aware of any other App that can access them (that does not mean there isn't one, it just means I don't know)
