It is the wierdest thing. I tried to enter SU mode three times with the wired Apple keyboard and I couldn't type anything. I just tried again and it allowed me to type the commands. And yes it was the Network Preferences that was the problem. Previously, I has started up in Safe Mode and removed the NFS folder from my startup items in: System/Library/StartupItems folder. That is when my computer started up but froze once it got to the desktop. That is also how I ran First Aid and found out my HD was fine. Thanks for all your help Rod, I truley appreciate it. Take care and hopefully I won't have to bug you again with another computer problem. Again THANX!

Did you actually shut down the computer before plugging in the wired keyboard on the earlier attempts, david? From memory you have to do this to get it recognised. In other words you can't simply plug it in and get it to take over from the wireless one while things are still running, from memory.

Glad you got it sorted, David. Don't worry about bugging people here! That's what the board is for! 😉

Cheers

Rod
