Burning Blu-ray Data Disc Error

Hello,

I'm trying to burn 18GB of DATA (audio and photo, document files) to a Blu-ray BD-R disc using a DIGISTOR Blu-ray burner (USB).

However, I always get the error that communication with device is lost.

Isn't OS X 10.5.8 supposed to be able to burn data to BD-R discs natively?

I am able to access data on a Blu-ray disc using the same drive, natively.

Pleae advice.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 4gigs of RAM

I have the same issue. Pioneer Black Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD Writer SATA Model BDR-205BKS in a VANTEC NST-530SU 5.25" Black USB2.0 & eSATA External Enclosure. Ruined 3 BD-R DL's trying to create an approximately 40gb DATA disc (can't find an BD-RE locally--waiting for two to be delivered).

All three burn attempts stopped at 11% then gave me the error message stating the disc could not be accessed. I'm using an esata connection (PNY eSATA II two port Expresscard 34). I burned a DVD with no problem, but each time I have attempted a BD-R DL, the same failure.

I have 8gb of memory, and normally have two eSATA drives hooked up simultaneously (one as my Time Capsule backup) so no problem with data transfers from that end.

Any suggestions?
