I've gone through the forums, I've searched all the web sites Google pulls up and all I've found is Mac users can get it to work... BUT no one says how they did it, and the posts are over a year old. My wife just got me the First Act 222 USB Instrument Cable, to go with the Fender she also just got me. Fender is great, amp is fine, but the cable never shows up. Won't even come up in Audio MIDI Setup, NOR does it come up in Audacity (which I've seen three posts that it works there).
So, any help will be great, PLEASE. I really don't want to disappoint my Ol' Lady that the cable wont work. Thanks.

Yes, no generic codex anywhere. All my choices in GB'09, audacity and Audio MIDI Setup are the built in mic and the built in input(ie. The line in). I've tried using spotlight to find anything, and it's like my MacBook doesn't see it.
Does it say it is Mac compatible?
Nope, but like I said others seem to have been able to use it on Macs, plus Target.com and Amazon.com are listing it as Mac compatible.
And you are plugged directly into the Mac not a hub?
Yep, plugged straight into the Mac..... /sigh
I did a quick google...nothing. Not even on their site.
Same here, and nothing even listed on their support page, which really is annoying since I've tried to run it on my <shudder>
Windows 7
home built and it doesn't show up as anything good... I'd suffer with recording to PC and then port over to the Mac for some real editing power but that doesn't even want to work.... Well, thanks everyone... I'm gonna leave this as unanswered for a couple more days, in case some one might have this bloody thing and knows the "fix" for it. I do really appreciate the help, but either online retailers are lying, or this thing is just broke out of the box. Does anyone have a suggestion on a USB guitar cable that does work with Macs and GB'09?
First thing you need to do is verify that system actually detects the cable:
- Click the "Apple" in the top left of you screen
- Select "About this Mac"
- In the pop-up, select "More info.."
- In the resulting window, disclose the Hardware section and click on USB. If you cable is not listed as a connected device, then the cable is probable damaged.
Even if the cable is not compatible with the OS, it will still show up in the hardware list if it is working properly.
Get back with the results and we will progress from there.
Well, shoot. Looks like a bad cable. Thanks Gary, new to Macs, and haven't gotten past chapter two of Mac OS X desktop essentials yet, so didn't know that it would show up with out drivers. Still used to how Windows works, but still learning.
