Menu button on the new remote control

Hi,

I just purchased the new universal docking station and remote control for my 30gb, 5th generation ipod.

The instructions with the remote say to refer to the ipod for the functions in the remote... and the ipod's manual says nothing about the remote control.

My interest is to know what is the function of the "Menu" button on the remote, and if it has any uses (possibly in conjunction with another button), or if mine is defective, as it does nothing when I press it.

Thanks,

Mandel

I have tested it at several levels, no life. Changed ipods to see if the issue is from my ipod or the remote, the same issue. So clearly the button does nothing in the case of my unit.

Anyone please who has this unit can tell me if its does anything for them?? I know that this is brand new device, and not many are currently on the market.

Thanks

What you are experiencing with your remote and universal Remote dock is normal. It *****, but the Remote only Pauses, FF, ReWind, and goes to the next song/movie in the playlist, or the previous song/movie in the playlist. You cannot change playlist. You hand select the playlist you want. Then you can sit down and use the remote to play/pause/rewind/fastforward/skip to next song in playlist/revert to previous song in the playlist.
This is the normal operation for the Remote when used in conjunction with the Universal Dock. I purchased one and was appauled that I could not change playlist, as that in essence, takes away from the purpose of purchasing it. My remote came with my iMac though, so no money really wasted for me.
