My external microphone does not work with Skype.

I set up Skype on my G4 Sawtooth 1.3 GHz running Mac OS 10.4.11. I could hear from the other side on a test call, but could not record my voice. I did check on the input sound source with my external microphone to no avail. What did I miss?

And does the external microphone appear in the input sound source at all, or does "to no avail" mean it doesn't even appear there? If the latter, is this microphone specifically labeled as working with Macs (and a specific OSX version)?

Sorry for not making it clear. Yes. the microphone showed up and was checked (highlighted.) It means the sound input should be coming from my external microphone. However, I could make my voice recorded on the test call to Skype.

It's a Skype problem. The program automatically selects the DIGITAL input. You need to change it to the RealTex internal microphone.

From Skype, go into Tools -> Options -> Audio Settings and make sure the microphone is selected instead of the digital input.

I think it would also help to verify the microphone is working at all. I don't have experience with external microphones so you'll have to wait for other suggestions as to that, unless you can do it yourself.

Yes, it is working. I went to Skype Preference --> Audio --> Input --> check on my external microphone.
