Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

10.6.3 is out today.

Just remember to follow the well posted rules in this forum before updating (mac a backup, do a safe boot, repair permissions, etc..)

MacBook Pro 15" 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.6.2), iphone 3GS (32GB), AEBS DB II (Late 2009), Apple Wired Keyboard/Mouse, ClamXav 2

From the kb

"File Services fixes provided for:

an issue that could prevent saving files from Microsoft Office 2008 to an SMB server volume.
issues copying, renaming or deleting files on an SMB server volume.
clear-text authentication enabling to an SMB file server."

I can no longer copy ANYTHING to my SMB servers after the update - reading -no problem
Writing - BIG problem..

I downloaded the 784 MB standalone 10.6.3 combo installer since we have several iMacs. In fact, that's what I normally do, being as one never knows when he may have to reinstall the system software, and having the updater on hand obviously saves time later.

I am happy to say that the 10.6.3 update progressed without any problems, followed by the usual restart. So far, everything seems to be fine as I type this message in Firefox 3.6.2.

My one disappointment -- although I expected it -- is that nowhere in the update notes does it mention anything about addressing the yellow tinge issue that so many of us have experienced. This absence seems to confirm the widespread belief that the yellow tinge can only be corrected through a hardware exchange.

I imagine that most folks have already noticed the new feature called "Diagnostic And Usage Data Collection". To better understand it, and to learn how to set it up on your machine according to your personal preferences, please check out this page:

As you'll see, there are actually three different options you can choose from.

I have snow leopard and followed the rules and I just did the software update to 10.6.3 and now photoshop cs3 crashes during startup every time I open it. Anyone else? Any ideas? I need my photoshop back ASAP!

Yes, I'm having the same problem with ALL of my CS3 design suite apps.
Still looking for a resolution as well. Anyone know how to resolve this?

Well posted rules... well.. posted here anyway.

1 - reboot.
2 - backup.
3 - safe boot.
4 - reboot normally.
5 - verify disk.
6 - fix permissons.
7 - reboot.
8 - install update from COMBO UPDATE (not Apple's Software Update program).
9 - reboot.
10 - enjoy your update.

The combo update is the main consideration which is usually unknown or overlooked by most users. (Google OSX10.6.3 combo)

These steps work for me and are the same routine I've been following (generally) for the past 24 years from the Lisa MacXL days.
Apple hasn't changed a thing. Updates are still a problem more than they should be.

Unrelated beef follows:
AND my computer still has trouble understanding what I say. It should have voice recognition down perfect and be strugling with thought recognition. Where is my flying car and jet pack...

10.6.3 is out today.
