10.6.3 Mouse keeps freezing and keyboard problems

So, I installed 10.6.3 using software update and was experiencing mouse freezing problems along with keyboard glitches (letters not typing, freezing). It seemed like it was mostly happening in Safari, but then I tried Chrome and the same problem.

Decided to reinstall using the combo update... same problem.

Anybody else having this problem. It's pretty intermittent. I managed to get through this post with no problems, and the mouse is still working.

The only way I get the mouse to move again is to shut the laptop, let it go to sleep, and then upon opening it up again, the mouse is functional. But, it's definitely happening only since 10.6.3.

Add me to the list. Had been running 10.6.2 fine on a 20" imac. Using off brand adesso keyboard and dynex mouse. Both attached through a USB hub. My keyboard goes dead and the mouse buttons go dead. I can however still move the mouse cursor around. I can also toggle the keyboard caps lock on and off. Only way to reboot is holding power down. ⚠

Are we who are experiencing these issues using off brand keyboards/mice? Anyone getting this with "genuine" apple products?

I've since restored my 10.6.2 via time machine which does work great for that sort of thing.

Same issue of freezing trackpad and keyboard. Error messages in kernel.log like this appear when it happens:

kernel[0]: AppleUSBMultitouchDriver::validateChecksum - 18-byte packet checksum is incorrect (expected 0x26d, checksum bytes were 0x11e3)
kernel[0]: AppleUSBMultitouchDriver::validateChecksum - 18-byte packet checksum is incorrect (expected 0x252, checksum bytes were 0x106d)

Freezing problems started yesterday after 10.6.3 upgrade.

Everything is fine for a certain amount of time... Could be half hour, could be 2 hours. Then...

First, Finder freezes. Cannot switch between apps, windows, et cetera. Mouse still functions.

Second, within next 60 seconds or so... mouse freezes and entire UI is completely frozen. Only way out is hard shutdown.

Just did 10.6.3 Combo Update to see if that will help. Fingers crossed.

I am seeing a similar problem on my Mac mini Core Solo and my MacBook 2.0 Core Duo.

I use a 3rd party optical mouse on the MB and an older USB 1.1 hub (Texas Instruments) with a HP printer and another quite new 3rd party optical mouse connected on the Mac mini. Both mouse devices just stop working after a while and can only be brought back to life by replugging. I suspect the old hub, but the printer works fine, only the mouse devices seem to be affected.

I do not see this problem on my Core2Duo machine. Same mouse stays functional all day. 32bit related problem?

I don´t have that exact problem on iMac.

My wife´s one was updated tuesday and immediately after she compalined about her Bluetooth Logitech mouse. It appeared it had to be ´discovered´ again, that solved the problem. However, she now complains that mouse not being able to wake up the system from sleep as it did before, a minor annoyance, but still...

My iMac was updated yesterday and sure enough - it´s a carbon copy including the mouse - it behaved exactly the same. Definitely a bug introduced with the update. There is something in the fixes list about sleep and wake up from Bonjour. Wonder whether that´s related.
