iTunes 9.1 fails to install with Bonjour service on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

I've updated my iTunes + Quicktimes version on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 system several times in the past without issues via the Help, Check for Updates, Install option.

Now with iTunes 9.1, I keep getting a "Bonjour Failed to Start" error. The funny thing is I can stop, start, etc.. the Bonjour service before I try the installation. After the installation it won't work anymore. It keeps erroring out.

I even tried uninstalling iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, etc.. and starting from scratch, but I keep getting the same error. I also tried the Manual install option from Tools, Download and still the same error.

It appears there is something wrong with iTunes 9.1, since I have iTunes 9.0.3 installed just fine without any issues.

Any thoughts?

Here's the error from Event Viewer on my PC:

i was wondering the same thing about apple's response... at the very least they could send emails when there's a universal problem. anyway.

wasn't sure from your comment if u tried the solution to the bonjour problem that everyone is having. i really have to say, i found that it worked completely and totally fixed the issue. but again. when i updated, the bonjour non-start problem happened only on my xp system, not on my vista.
either way, if it's not starting. just uninstall bonjour that was packaged with the itunes update, then go to download.com or apple etc and look for 'bonjour for windows'. download and install by itself. it integrates seamlessly with itunes and fixes the prob.

i didn't know about the previous version issue as relates to the libraries. turns out that on my vista machine, the 9.1 wasn't causing the probs after all. tho i thought i eliminated all other possibilities before blaming the 9.1 update, turns out was an unrelated issue. oh well, that's why i apologized for assuming in my prior post lol.

Thanks alot your info Finally got me reinstalled with the older version had been missing 2 items to delete that was in the info and then it finally installed with one error which was Apple Application Support not installing for some reason and thanks to another thread and a post by Cr4z33 downloaded WinRAR and followed his instructions and all works like a charm..! 🙂

Here is the other thread URL in-case someone else has this exact issue I had

Has anyone received any additional word from Apple tech support as to when there might be a Bonjour fix. They haven't taken down the buggy upgrade and more an more people are going to stumble into this trap. I've told everyone i know to avoid the upgrade for now. I'm surprised that none of the tech bloggers have piced up on this problem yet.

Thanks to all of you.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and had trouble with "Bonjour." Itunes only turned on when "Bonjour" was disabled.

But with the C:\Users\UserID\downloads\iTunes64Setup.exe NO_BONJOUR=1

Problem solved.
