Updating 10.6

Hello,

I've just installed 10.6 and tried to update it. These 3 updates showed up:
Mac OS X Update Combined
Xcode 3.2.1
iLife Support

After trying to install them this message appeared:

The digital signature on the update is missing or invalid. The update may have been tampered with since being signed by Apple. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.

I tried downloading and installing the updates myself: 10.6.1, 10.6.2, 10.6.3, and other combos but to no avail.

I also tried this:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/cache.db
Drag the "cache.db" file to the Trash. Try Software Updates again

Could anyone please help me!

Either make a new Admin user & try that account, or Software Update...

Trashing these files...

Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.(12 digit number).plist
Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist

I tried trashing those files, did not help.
I made a new admin user and it did help!!!!!

Can I delete the old admin user?

Depending on how you did your set-up initially, the old admin user may own all the System files on your Hard Drive. It would be inconvenient to delete that one. But you could change its password.

You may want to check that old user's account for things you might need in the Documents, Pictures, Music folders etc before trashing it.

Same by me - only in german but the same error:

If you have the 10.6 CD, you can try to install only the Rosetta package.
I had no problems with it, it installed properly.

I have installed Rosetta without Problem - but the Update won`t work again. Some more tips?

Ok, as I was advised, create another user account with admin permissions, and do all the software updating from that account. That should work, I just updated today security update, x-code, and some MacOSX 10.6 update. Hope it will work.

Won`t work with new Account - I found out that these things wont work anymore:
- Updates
- Websites with https Protokolls
