iTunes 9.1 - Ringtones gone after bitrate conversion

I decided to do the "on the fly" bitrate conversion while syncing to my iPhone 3G and, in the process, lost most of my "homemade" ringtones. If I look in the sidebar in iTunes it says they're on the phone but they won't show up in the list when I go to change my ringtone. I changed my music back and all the ringtones came back. Anyone else having this problem?

24" iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Yeah I had the same thing so I wrote this Automator Work flow its pretty basic but it got the job done for me.

Downloaded a ringtone from the album "Ringtone Tunes: Latin Hits", but it shows up in my music library instead of the ringtone library... ?

Now I tried the conversion mentioned before and this works so that when I add it to the library it gets under ringtones... (128kbps now)
Only it doesn't show up for synchronisation with my iPhone 3GS...

Thanks, I'll have to give that a Try. I mainly use my PC to sync my iPhone, though. I'll have to try running that on my Mac. It's an older PPC, but I should be able to figure it out...
