Burning a gapless album

How can I burn a gapless album from an album with tracks. (For example opera downloads have tracks with silence at the end of each track for up to 10 seconds; even though, the burned cd should have no gaps whatsoever.) I've tried using get info and making all tracks gapless, turing on and off crossfade, and setting the gap to none on the burning popup. I'd appreciate any help.

I have the exact same problem. I know for sure that it is itunes 9 that is the problem. I've even gone so far as to keep my daughter's mac mini running itunes 8 so that I can keep burning truly gapless cd's until there is a fix. I've contacted Apple support and they don't seem to understand. They keep telling me to use a lower burn speed. The bottom line is that I can burn an identical cd in itunes 8 and itunes 9 (Pink Floyd - Dark side of the Moon for example). The one burned in 8 will we be perfectly seamless with no audible spaces between tracks and the one in 9 will have a ever so slight gap (just enough so that you notice that the track has advanced). Could it be a hidden agenda to discourage disc copying? I would hope not, but the bottom line is Apple doesn't seem to be too concerned about it. Sure you can try all those methods mentioned, but it use to be so simple before. All you had to do was make sure you had the track gap setting set to zero and you were off to the races. Now it's turned into a huge rigmarole.
